Bio
La Promenade Violence is an alternative indie band based in Haarlem, the Netherlands. The band is known for their dark, atmospheric sound that draws on the legacy of English New Wave from the 1980s. Their music combines the melancholic intensity of that era with the energy and edge of modern indie rock, creating a soundscape that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking.
Founded in early 2023 by vocalist Justin Jackson (UK), guitarist Stefano Girardi (Italy), bassist and keyboardist Martijn Vonck (Netherlands), and drummer Phil Dolfini (Italy), the band represents a convergence of international influences. From the outset, they focused on crafting original material, quickly releasing three singles that were well-received and immediately gained airplay on several Dutch radio stations, helping to establish their presence in the indie music scene. Building on this momentum, La Promenade Violence entered the studio in early 2024 to record their debut EP, Every Yesterday. Featuring four tracks highlighting their signature dynamic arrangements, the EP marked a significant milestone in their early career. The EP launch show at Haarlem’s Slachthuis sold out in advance, demonstrating the band’s growing audience.
This did not go unnoticed as the song Lights was included on the compilation vinyl Harlem Underground that was released in honor of the Haarlem Vinyl Festival 2024 and at the beginning of 2025 the gentlemen were invited to play a show at the Penguin Radio showcase festival during Eurosonic Noorderslag.
Early 2025, the band entered Robot Studios Ghent (Belgium) together with Flemish producer Reinhard Vanbergen to record their follow-up EP “Failures, Future, Past”. On May 22nd, a release show will be given in Patronaat, Haarlem. In anticipation of this, the first single Human was released on Friday April 11th.
3voor12: "Tight guitar lines with which you can't really call it an indie band, but more of an indie rock band. The dark sound is a bit like Joy Division and their sound reminds you of English bands from the eighties."
